Hello,
I have a Definity G3R V9. How or can I remotely call from the outside (such as home) into the system and call forward a station. Thankyou.

You can us the second cover path on the station form. Please understand it is a Right-to-use option meaning $$$.

By setting this up you can dial a DID number and a FAC with a passcode and change your coverpath via remote.

Look at the FAQ part of tek-tips you will find help in setting this up

Thanks All Phoneman2

Thankyou Phoneman2,
I am aware of the remote coverage option. What I am looking to do is to call in from the outside, call forward a station to a number that changes, not the same number every time. Thankyou.

Enable remote access:
"Change Remote Access"

Assign your remote access an extension, i suggest an internal extension for security reasons and assign the remote access extension an audix box.

Assign a barrier code with a cor and a cos that can do call forwarding, call forwarding off net, and whatever else you need.

Find the call forward feature access code by doing
"disp feat"
Its listed as Call Forwarding Activation Busy/DA.

So you dial your main number that goes to the autoattendant and dial the remote access ext.
you will hear a tone, dial your barrier code.
You get dial tone now. Dial your feature access code for CF
then the station you want to cf, then the destination.

So, for example, our main number is 555-123-4567
the Remote Access ext is 2345
barrier code is 123456 ( in practice DON'T assign 123456! )
the feature access code for call forwarding *02
and the station i want to forward is 4567
and the destination i want is 555-987-6543
and 9 is the outside line access

From my cell, i can dial 555-123-4567
Get the autoattendant and dial 2345#
I'll get a beep and then dial tone.
I'll dial the barrier code 123456
then I can dial *02 4567 9 555 987 6543

If you don't like the codes, you can have programmed into a VDN & Vector, and allow the calls through based on ANI.
If ani = <my cell number>
Then a route-to number 2345~p~p123456
this will prevent you from dialing the barrier codes

And, on my cell I program the 555-123-4567, pause, 2345#

Fonefun has you in the right direction. I use remote access to do what you are after. Be careful and use long digits for your barrier codes. Changes the number of calls to 10 or so. ( ch remote )This is another place to be hit with toll fraud. Use the inside or non DID numbers. This is a great feature but don't make it easy on someone that is looking to make free long distance or worse international phone calls off your switch...

Thankyou Fonefun and Mikeydidit,
I followed your instruction and I can not make it work. I dial into remote, enter the barrier code, I get the beep and then dialtone, press *2,(our fea for call forward) the ext# I want to foward, I get a wave off tone. Any suggestions? Thankyou.

Does the extension that you are trying to call forward have the right cos to allow call forwarding??

Mikey

Can you call forward off-net? Is that option flagged to a yes? Another thought is to give the remote access code console permissions through the COS.

try this,

assign the COR and COS you gave to the barrier code to your own phone.

Then, from your own phone, dial the *02 fea sequence.
If you can do it from your phone (with the COR/COS you gave the barrier code) then you should be able to do it with the remote access.

in your COS, you need:
Call Fwd-All Calls: Y
Restrict call fwd-off net : N
Console Permissions: Y

As tbg247 suggested, you need console permissions to cf another station, otherwise, dialing the fea *02 will just try to CF your own station. From a remote access call, it will probably give you the no-no beep-beep!

And as mikeydidit suggests about security, don't assign this a DID or you will risk getting hacked.
I have ver 11, and can only put in 7 digits as a barrier code.

if you want to be very secure, do this:

assign your remote access an internal extension.

Create a non DID vdn, and vector for this, and assign it a voice mail box.

Call in from outside autoattendant, dial the VDN ext and you get transfered to the VDN (since you have a voice mail ext created).

In the vector, use ANI recognition to match to your callerID number (ie your cell number). This means only you can dial in, or someone else who knows about this, and has a phone switch, and can fake your cell's caller id.

You can also use a prompt in your vector.
Collect digits and if you don't get the right digits, disconnect the call.

I myself use the ANI, figuring that only someone who knows the right extension (1 in 3000 odds, since I use 4xxx,5xxx,6xxx as my extension range) and can fake my cell number can get in, and thats not too likely.

The VDN I used is also named something like Test VDN, so no one can guess what it's for.

Of course your COR has to be able to dial the number

Phonefun, Mikedidit, tbg247, Thankyou all.
Console permission did it, why I did not think of it before is beyond be, as Homer would say doh.....Although I am a little hesitant to assign console permissions to anybody or thing but myself for fear of it being abused. Can I create a cor to match the cos with console to restrict them from using the features that come with console permissions.
Thanks again.
Tom

I remote control my pc via a vpn connection. Then use hyperterminal to dial the digits as needed. The modem line extension needs to have console permissions etc... In Hyperterminal you can pre-program the numbers you want to forwarded, cell or home or whatever. When done, do the same with the unforward code. Works great, I use this when working from home.

To forward:
feature access code, extension to be forwarded, 9, then the number.

To un-forward:
feature access code, extension
