This used to be standard, but it was changed a while back. Now I have someone asking for the old way!

User Forwards Unconditionally to another User. Call goes back to voicemail of originator. Customer wants call to go to voicemail of the forwarded destination. Am I missing a checkbox for the old way or is gone for good?

I know the voicemail pro client can be configured to send the calls to the destination. I am looking to keep customer hands out of voicemail pro.

Thanks

Been there, done that

If they have DID's you could forward it to the full DID of the destination party that way it is seen as an outbound call.
I wouldn't recommend it though since it would then be 3 lines/channels it would take up for 1 call.

Old way?

It has NEVER worked the way you describe, VM has always gone to the mailbox of the original destination.

I must have reached to far back and was thinking of Partner and Merlin days.

Thank you Intrigant and Telecomboy. I gave him instructions on VMPro client to send voicemails to another destination

You could do this without voicemail pro but it gets messy if you need to set it up for a bunch of users.

Program a group that has the user you are forwarding too. Have it overflow to a phantom group with a phantom user that is setup to send calls to original users voicemail with shortcode. Forward calls to the group instead of the user. Hits group, rings user in group, then overflows phantom group with phantom user that goes to original user's voicemail. If you just need it setup for a single user there you go.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

The big problem with "Clever" and or "Messy" solutions is they soon become unmaintainable & can cause unforeseen problems (Or the cust simply neglects mentioning the next stage of the requirements I things spiral out of control)

I agree and would only ever set this up for a single user. If they want more then that then they should be purchasing voicemail pro. A single user, however, is easy enough to maintain this type of flow as long as you label everything properly.

You can use Follow Me To and Forward No Answer.
From the phone you want to forward, set the extension number you want to forward to in the Follow Me To settings.
Again from the phone you want to forward, set the extension where you want to go to voicemail as #xxx (x's for extension number, and yes enter # before the extension number) in the Forward No Answer setting. Just know you'll have to have a #XXX/Voicemail Collect Short Code built for this to work. You may even be able to turn off the voicemail for the extension you want to forward instead of using the Forward No Answer setting; haven't tested but still an additional step, though may eliminate the setup of the #XXX/Voicemail Collect Short Code. However as IPGuru mentioned, use with caution as could get messy with most Customers due to lack of trouble-shooting skills
