Call droped after pressing 0 during Automated Atendant (AA)

The Problem: The Automated Attendant answers and plays the appropriate recorded message for that time of day. When a caller presses 0 it says "One Moment Please" then hangs up.

What it used to do: When the caller presses 0, the phone system rings thought the entire building. If no one answers the call it dumps into the general mailbox voicemail.

What I found out so far: Extension 142 is set as the internal ringer or Ring In. When I dial that extension it rings for a fraction of a second then drops the call. If I call right back it rings thought the building just like it should.

I also tried the following from an external call. I call our main number from my cell phone and waited for the AA to answer. Then I dialed extension 142 from a system phone and it dropped me just like before. I then press 0 on my cell phone and it worked just like it should. It rang thought the building no one answered then dump me into the general mailbox voicemail.

After a few seconds its back to dropping calls.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

We'll need some more info. Which Norstar system and software version? Which voicemail and software version? Is there a phone associated with extension 142? How are you forwarding calls from 142 to all your other sets that are supposed to ring?

I am unsure where to find all the info you need. I have lots of docs on this system. Let me know how to find it.

Norstar VM 2.20

Device 142 shows:
P0311 ATA 142
Version: 06HjB09

Maintenance/SystemVersion and note the SP number.

Do a Feature * 0 then press the key above the Intercom key and see if says Answer DN 142 on one these sets that rings when 0 is pressed.

When you say:

Do you mean when you intercom 142 from any phone?

So far sounds like 0 in F983/AA/Table/Atnt is pointing to 142 and Analog Terminal Adaptor (ATA) and all sets have an answer key for that DN.
If calling 142 internal via intercom and the call disconnects then no issue with AA sounds like.
Wonder what is plugged into the ATA, an over head ringer? cordless? nothing?
Maybe make sure in Capabilitis of 142 that Forward Busy is set to none, and in Line Access make sure it has 2 intercom keys.

Version = SP: 30JpM07 NAT

Feature *0 = Answer Ring In

Correct, I do mean Intercom 142 from any phone. (There is no phone associated with that extension)

Note: Only the paging loudspeaker and the M7324 phones ring when intercom 142 is dialed. I was incorrect when I said "throught the entire building".

Here are some photos of the system if that helps any.

I unpluged the ATA IN (writen upsidedown in photo 1) from the ATA 2 device and the system is now working like it should. Could the ATA 2 device be faulty? I am not sure what we are using that for. Our fax machine is still working.

Your software version is:
MICS 1.1 XL or XC U.S. version (look on the card to see which X)

Unplug the mod cord going into the line in port of the ATA and test and sse what happens or what does not happen anymore.

I will be on vacation until the 30th. I will check the version as soon as I get back. Its been working so far with the cable unplugged. I have access to another system that is almost identical and not being used anymore. Maybe I can swap out the ATA2.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I Will return on the 30th.

Sounds like the trouble may have been what you had plugged into the ATA, rather than the ATA itself. Was it tied to a paging amp?

Yeah that was where I was going, something attached to the ATA shouldnt be attached but why does it work when he calls right back? ATA answers first call, foriegn device answers and ties up the line/intercom.....when 2nd call made the ATA is still tied up therefore it rings on the rest of the items.
