call coverage off net

I have a G3V4i and cannot get call coverage off net to work. I think the problem resides in the lack of a call classifier card in the switch. The config has a TN748D Tone Detector and a TN780 Tone/Clock. I think I need a TN2182B to get this to work. Can anyone verify this before I purchase the card?

thanks in advance!

Yes, but with a V4 there is no sys-coverage screen. Whenever I dail the station that is remote covered the call goes to the attendant.

You have no problems with the COR you're using? (no confilcts between trunk group, route pattern, extension - anything that would block the call) You have a remote coverage page with the outside number (including ARS code) assigned on one of the entries on that page?...and that remote cover entry added to a cover path?...and that cover path assigned to the station in question?

COR calling permissions all yes. Remote coverage R1 = 91800xxxxxxx. 9 is the ARS access code. Stations coverage path points to R1. When you call the station, the attendant intercepts.

The fact that the attendant intercepts rather than you getting an error tone says something. I think I normally get an error tone if I screw up the process somewhere...but never have I had a problem that forced the call to hit the attendant. What's on the display when the call hits the attendant?...what's he or she see on the display? Might give you a clue as to why the call ended up there.

Something else you could try...to see if it's giving you the intercept treatment for whatever reason....try changing (just breifly, for a test call, then change back) the DID/Tie/ISDN Intercept Treatment on the system parameters features screen, should be page 1. Change it from attendant (if it's set that way now) to another ext number (enter the ext number). Save that and then place the call and see if the call then forwards to the ext you specified in the intercept treatment field. That'll at least tell you if it's doing the intercept...then you have to figure out WHY it's giving you an intercept rather than trying to hit a trunk.

Wait...sorry, I think you can only enter attendant or an announcement ext in that field...not another station.

Another idea...check trunk-to-trunk transfer permissions. You can overide a restriction set in the sys para fea screen within the COS setting for the ext you're dealing with. I would try to call the ext you're trying to cover offsite like an outside call as well as an internal call to see if there's any difference in the way the call acts when it tries to hit that ext and then cover offsite. The idea is to see what it does and doesn't do in different situations, to see if there's something in common. It'll help eliminate certain possibilties.

non did number, cannot call from outside. The attn shows the name of the station with "IC" at the end when it intercepts the call.

Have you looked at the COS. This may be where your problem lies.

Ok, this is the official description of Intercept Treatment:
Intercept Treatment provides an intercept tone or a recorded announcement or
routes the call to an attendant for assistance when calls cannot be completed or
when use of a feature is denied.

Knowing that, it sounds like to me there's some sort of restriction...some reason why it's not allowing it. Did you check 'disp sys cust' to see if there's any mention of this feature on your release or something related to it that's not allowed on your system? The disp sys cust will show you what customer options you've got active in your system...the right-to-use stuff - what features you've paid to use. If something is turned off in there or otherwise restricted, you have to get Avaya to turn it on (and you pay for it). Cvg Of Calls Redirected Off-net? is set to N on mine, but I can still cover a call offsite, but it just won't cover BACK to voice mail...once it's covered offsite, it's offiste and won't come back to the Definity.

call to an attendant for assistance when calls cannot be completed." This is why I think I need the 2182B. I am thinking the switch can not outpulse tones to the trunk without a call classifier. I have chacked the sys-cust and can find nothing that I think would impact this.

Have you changed the option to N on restrict call forward off net ? As this stops you forwarding calls to an outside line
