Is call coverage the only option in Basic or can I implement bridged appearance? No activity on the Basic forum so I had to post here.

?You have limited options in BASIC. What you are presented with in software programming is all you get.
Look at the options in button programming and that should answer the question presented.

Yep, I found it. I do have another problem. This system is 7.0.5. What they want to do is cover extension 10. But when I go into button programming #20 if I enter extension 10 it will not accept it. It will accept any other extension, though. Is this a feature or a bug?

talk your customer into an essential edition license, they will thank you in the end!

Coverage in basic works a little weird. When you program the button you set the originating extension followed by the destination extension. I believe the originating extension needs to be the extension you are programming the button on. So, you would go to x10 and program a coverage button and then put 10-12 if you wanted x10 to cover over to extension 12. Not the most intuitive.

You could do the same thing with a forward button as it doesn't actually ring on a coverage button like regular IPO.

why would anyone ever install muppet basic mode on a V7.0 system?
heck why on earth would anyone with an IQ in double digits +ve IQ ever use muppet basic mode full stop?

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Shrug. I do this for the money. All I care about.

I did think this myself, i remember when i first started on IPO and i accidentally put a system into basic mode. Got a clip round the ear from one of the seniors. Last time i done that. However on this post thought there must be a logical reason behind it.

ACSS (Manieee on a new account)

Only reason is if they have Partner phones that they want to re-use. Which is not a good idea in and of itself.

so do we, which is why we never use muppet basic mode, we incur far less expense on support calls.
the cost of the licence is included in the price of the equipment so the cust is paying for it not us & o 7.0 where it was unlicensed there is absolutely nothing to e gained by not using essential edition (The clue is in the name!)

why by a performance car & then only drive it with the speed restricted Valet Key?

Had a customer once that insisted on Muppet mode and I gave him the phone number of a competitor :)
I did not want to install it or worse maintain and troubleshoot it.
I learned my lesson when I did agree to install a customer provided UCM module on early R8.0

FHandw, just expired ACSS (SME)

Not only do we still sell Basic mode (despite my repeated pleas to not do so...) we even get random calls for PRI or even SIP in basic... they ALWAYS end up paying more for support then the license fee. Every time I bring it up to sales, they say they agree, and nothing ever changes. Wish I had the seniority to just say I refuse to work on it but sadly I don't.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Meanwhile... @pmcook What type of phone?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

1416. My next attempt will be a upgrade to 7.36 and see if my luck changes. They have no interest in Essential.

No interest in Essential edition for free? Yikes.

Sorry back to your actual question. You said that the coverage button works for all extensions except 10? So at extension 20 you are doing coverage button with 20-10 it wont accept it? It simply wont let you hit OK or it displays an error? Do you have extension 10 set as the coverage destination for the trunks by chance?

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

this is one of the major problems with installing Muppet basic mode, if the customer grows to the point the essential edition becomes essential the changes to the operation of the system are so significant it is the equivalent of installing a total new PBX with all the problems that involves (But the old system did it like this etc) made worse by the fact that the customer knows it is still the same system. even the default short codes change, for fucks sake why?

This was actual my main reason by advising our sales team not to sell it, nothing to do with its limited functionaliy.

Critchey - I cannot do a 10-29 on extension 10.

Ya that is very odd. I was just curious if you had extension 10 set as the coverage on lines. Maybe the old versions wouldn't let you have 10 cover lines and then someone cover 10? Either way I would certainly start with upgrading to 7.0(36).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
