I want to create a button that when pressed makes my "number of calls" field increase by 1 so that I can log how many calls are being made to certain companies. Any ideas?
 
My idea - don't!

Create one record in a table per each call, log it either with just a date, or a timestamp along with an identifier of the company, then you can count as much as you like afterwards (by date, month, year, from-to ...).

do you mean have a separate table? if so how do I link them-sorry, I am not very clever at this!
 
Yes, a separate table, linked probably through the primary key of the company table.
