what is needed to allow the attendant console operator to block calls to a certain extension? example: hospital patient room does not want to receive calls after 9:00 p.m.
Group Do Not Disturb" is the specific feature most hospitals use. You put the extensions of the patient rooms in a DND Group, then the Operator just presses that button at 9PM - then takes it off at 8AM for example.
Or you can do an individual do not disturb by the DN. Remember once it is activated you can not get it back off except with the console no matter what you do.
One thing to remember is that there is a limit to the number of sets allowed in a do not disturb group so you may not get all the rooms in one group.
With that said there is a work around we did at a hospital. A DND group can be a member of another DND group so what we did was create 2 DND groups say 5001 and 5002 and split the rooms between both groups. We then created a third group of say 5000 and the members of that group were 5001 and 5002 and we had all the sets covered.
Kind of hard to understand from the book but that is the basic nuts and bolts.
I programmed a ddl key on the console. Is that correct?
To activate , I had the operator press an idol loop key, the dnd.ind key, and the 4 digit dn. She said that the dnd.ind key flashed until the 4th dn digit was entered, then nothing. I had her do it again, adding release at the end of the sequence. Either way, it doesn't seem to block the calls. I should get a busy when calling the supposedly blocked dn, shouldn't I? It just continues to ring until going to the operator.
