I have a customer that uses call appearance buttons on 54xx handsets.

When they transfer a call to a colleague who is busy on another call, they want the call to go straight to VM. If they are away from their desk, the phone will ring five times then go to VM. This way they can tell if their colleague is on another call or away from their desk.

With Call Appearance, when the colleague is on another call, the call will ring on appearance B, and not go straight through to VM ie there is no difference in what the caller hears.

How can I get a call to go straight to VM when busy whilst using call appearance?
 
what level of software are you using?

either enter RESERVE_LAST_CA under each users source numbers, or tick the reserve last ca box on the telephony tab.

both these require each user to only have 2 line appearance keys.

there will be two rings before voicemail kicks in, something to bear in mind
