Hi, looking for a way to have a call appearance that requires the button be pushed to pick up - user wants to avoid picking up the phone when a covered user's phone is ringing and answering it by mistake.

Ideally - they want a single button like a BLF that will indicate when a user's extension is ringing (even if they are on another call - which seems to be the trick) and hit a button to answer it.

I'm thinking worst case is that they need to rely on *30 or some *32s next to blfs.. but nothing ideal.

Thanks in advance - Joe

Put the user into a group, set ICR to that group for that user. Then put a group button on the phone. I just did that tonight and it worked. It will alert and blink but you have to press the group button to pick up. It is a fancy call pickup button.

Sorry one followup question-
How would this affect voicemail? How can i keep it going to the user's voicemail at the end of the ring time?

Thanks again - joe

Set the destination extension as overflow and reduce the overflow timer. Or you could just use the HG vmail as the user vmail.

Just turn ringing line preference off.

Remember your training and you will make it back alive!
'Would you like to know more?'

Turning ringing line preference off would also require users to hit their own ringing lines when a call comes in, correct?

You're asking questions about call appearances, when I think you're actually talking about bridged appearance keys...totally different :)

My idea assumed one user needed this feature and it was only for calls to that user and that all other calls were to be handled by auto line select.

Was trying to keep simple. They want users to be able to pick up incoming calls for other users, but - no auto-pickup. 6 users total, so bit of a mess.
I think if they want this as close to their request, I need to have each user in a group. There needs to be two buttons for each user: a BLF and a group button. They're fine with sidecar.

Just one button. The group feature is a illuminated button. Really 6 groups is not a mess. It gets much more complicated than that.

right, 6 group buttons (one for each user) but also 6 BLF (use for blf + intercom).
Also - I'll be able to have it go to their voicemail through overflow but not linger long, and this won't affect someone internal calling their extension (will ring 3x etc before going to voicemail)

ok - thanks to everyone for helping with this. Final question - i have this working, but is there any way for someone with a group button on their phone (but not a member of the group) to see the incoming call information?

Hi - I set this up, one showstopper -

call comes in for a user, they're member of their extension group and can pick it up.
Second call comes in - phone doesn't ring..?

Thanks in advance - Joe

Sorry was just coming back to answer my own question. "Collective with call waiting"

OK, feature followup on this -

Number goes to hunt group, overflows to user's extension and goes to their voicemail. How do I handle a scenario where they have their calls forwarded? Is there a way for their calls to also go to their forward # within the hunt group when forwarding is on? Not sure how to implement in a way they can manage.

Thanks in advance!

Hunt group calls SHOULD got to a HG mailbox E.g. Day/Night/Xmas. Leave personal VMBs for personal calls.
With my scenario your 'problem' is a non event.

Are you keeping up with the Commodore? Because the Commodore is keeping up with you.

What we have is a inbound call that goes to a hunt group, then overflows to another hunt group which has a forward unconditional to the person's voicemail. This works perfectly for some other requirements they have - being able to grab each other's calls without a line appearance or a ring.

But now we're adding the need to allow for forwarding to a cell. Two things I can think of:
[ol 1]
[li]Have them change their forwarding on this hunt group each time from #<extn> to their cell and back again.. is there a way to do this via soft buttons so they can't do it incorrectly?[/li]
[li]Put the user's extension in the second hunt group rather than the #<extn> forward - so it rings the user's extension for an extra 10-15 sec then goes to vmail (or cell vmail) - again not ideal because of the additional ring time.[/li]
[/ol]

Any other options I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

This has gone on for three months?

Use a virtual user that is not associated with the extension.

Moronwhowontanswerthephone Ext 201

sequentialgroupforthemoron Ext 301 (401 is the member)
Fwd2moronmobileno Ext 401 --->fwd to mobile

Or just use twinning ona time profile.

There's one with a hump. And one who can jump.
