Hi,
I have a problem here with calculating sum of a field without including the suppressed field. The usual Sum function will sum all Amount, including the suppressed one. How can i calculate sum of an Amount that is shown in the report only(exclude the suppressed field) ? Pls help. Thanks in advance.

As you have discovered, record supression does not keep values from evaluating in any sub or grand totals. This comes up all the time.

You need to use a record selection formula or a the select expert. Write a formula with logic similar to what you already have for suppressed records, and use it to exclude those records from the report.

Erase the formula for record suppression as it accomplishes nothing in this context. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Hi,
Another option is to use a running total to calculate your sum and just set up the running total to exclude the suppressed values. Seagate Certified RCAD Specialist.

Can you give me a sample on how to calculate sum that exclude suppressed values using running total ?

These are called conditional totals and I describe several ways in faq149-243. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
