I have just installed a new PBX with 3600 pairs. I would like to keep a cable record document that would maintain the MDF and IDF pairs. Can anyone share a cable record book that works well for you. I know the old Bell used to have a book years ago that the techs would hand write the pair numbers beside the TN.

I haven't seen one of those for years now, but I do remember that the pairs are listed for the location the book is located (either the MDF or the IDF),where they go or come from and then what number (or extension) is on that pair,then where that goes (station number on a chart(floor plan).
I last did one but had to create my own spread sheet

Back in the day, and I still have the sheets somewhere in a file cabinet or banker's box, we got laminated sheets that you could write on in pencil and erase them. We laminated a sheet of paper with grid lines and filled in our special services assignments.
Did I mention it was before personal computers?
It should be fairly simple to create an Excel spreadsheet with the data on and force gridlines to make a custom cable record. Of course you might want to figure out how to do this in a database program as 3600 lines will take about 60 pages of portrait pages.
