I am using a 3Com cable modem connected via ethernet connection (single user, no other network) to my Win 2K Prof. PC for my Internet connection. And, in general, it works well.
But if I leave the computer un-attended for a while and return the cable modem connection no longer works. Windows 2000 Prof. seems to "see" the ethernet LAN connection since it does not report any errors. And the cable modem lights would indicate that everything is working.
But when I attempt to reach a URL or the ISP's email server, the connection fails. It is as though Windows has quit "talking" to the device.
Restarting the computer resolves the issue, but it is annoying.
1. Are there settings that I can check/change to prevent this?
2. Is that any 3rd party software to run to re-initialize the connection capability without having to re-start?
Thanks,
jrbbldr
