Cable Management in a wall mounted rack? 3

I'm in need of some suggestions...

I am about to install a new switch into the wiring cabinet (there are 3 16 port switches in there...we only need one 48 port switch) which is going to free up some rack space as it is currently full.

My boss has also thought out of the blue that now may also be a good time to get the cables TIDY.

Currently, there is a Panduit cable management system in the form of a 1U rack mount kit...the cat5 cables for the phones are in that, with the cover on the front.

However, all the cables for the PC's go over the top of that, and into the switches...so they are fully in view and are rather untidy.

What I am trying to find is a bigger version (perhaps a 2U?) of the Panduit cable tidy thing...

I can't seem to find the same product on the panduit site, its a "PAN-NET"

Of course anything else suitable would be most welcome, im just not exactly sure what it is I am looking for.

I assume its "Horizontal Cabling"?

Thanks!

Also - I have noticed in some of the products I have been looking at, some offer "front only" and some say "front and rear"

If we were to get a front and rear, would this give more room to push cables back, or is that not what the purpose of that is for?

This prodcut seems to match our needs...currently there are 50 cables (ish) crammed into a 1U unit - this fits...just.

There are approx 30 more cables which we want to tidy....i assume the 2U unit should houst 80 cables?

The front and rear are for cable management on the front and rear of the rack. Mine are panduit and you can not use the rear as overflow fro the front as there is a divider to keep them seperate.

We use Panduit for all our cable management. The 2U front only is the one you want for more than 50 cables. We usually size for one 2U per 48 ports but we have the space in most cases.

The answer has always been 42

I got some nice Siemon 2U organizers off ebay a while back. They are nice and they have front and rear management.
It depends on how neat you want, there are the Panduit type ones with covers, or open ones with hook-type organizers.
I also would use Velcro ties if you have to bundle the cables out of the organizers.

Thanks for the tips guys!

Just going to get the 2U version of the one we have already, it is the covered sort we're after, want to get it nice and tidy and easy to work in....at the minute its total spagetti junction!!

Front only should be fine :)

Thanks again
