Is it possible to share a cable internet connection, by using ICS, going through a PC running XP and 2 NICs?
I have cable internet and 1 cable modem
I cheap!!!!
Thanks,
Dave

Yes it is. Your one PC will need to stay on of course. It will have the public IP. The others will point to the PC as their gateway. They will have a private IP. Commonly used is 192.168.1.x. The ICS PC will do the translation from private to public.

Something to think about though. For $30 you can get a basic 4-port Linksys router. Plug it in and it just works. It will handle all of that for you and provide a nice basic layer of security for you. It's worth the small investment. I think you'll get better performance that way too.

one thing..some isp's don't permit bridged connections..I know that we don't. I haven't been able to figure out how it is that our server identify that a connection is bridged, but becasue ics using a "bridged" connection, it will not work. Something to keep in mind.

the only right answer to "why?" is: "why not?"
