Has anyone used CA-Realizer on Windows 98? I'd be very interested in any bugs resulting therefrom.

ET

CAR works reasonably well in win98. Make sure you are running version 3.0 with 3.0b patches installed.

THere is a 16 mb memory limit (I'm told this was a programmer accident where he forgot to remove a debugging trap before CAR was compilied and shipped).

Also there is a rarely incountered bug which causes a crash when one large PROC invokes another large PROC in a chain.

My workaround was to schedule the next proc to run 0.5 seconds later thus allowing current proc to exit first.

Good luck

Curry:

Thanks for the tips. I have 3.0a, but did not know there is a 3.0b (which I assume can be obtained from the CA website).

I am developing an application for CAR on Win98, but haven't tried to run an executable yet. Were your remarks directed to the development environment exclusively? When I close CAR, I always get a message from Win saying that the program has sinned and will be shut down - which of course I have just done. That is the only fault obviously connected with Win98. Since I do not know what is causing the problem, but the development environment seems to work, it is kind of a background worry at the moment.

Thanks again.
ET
Sorry...it is 3.0a. Yes, we run several CAR executables each day.

We are regretably using vb for new projects as CAR is an orphan. CA hasn't supported it for quite some time although they use the language engine internally in several of their products.

Still, I find CAR to be the fastest and easiest development environment by far.

I've never encountered the problem you seem to be having. Sorry I can't help with it.

Curry:

Thanks for your encouraging report on the executables. I have purchased VB6 and am engaged in learning it and will shift over to it when my present project is
done. But the shift will be a reluctantant one: your assessment of CAR is on the mark, as far as I am concerned.

ET

I have a friend that is in need of a copy of CA-Realizer and has been unable to find one for sale. Anyone have a copy they wish to sale? The lastst version would be preferred but will consider older versions as well.

Or if you know of someone with a copy. Thanks
