Hi....

I'm now thinking about starting to work towards MCSD. I'm starting a new position and have been told i'll be supported in training in any Microsoft language and to MCDBA too.

Now, quandry.......

I've got skills in VB but I can see C# being popular and C# skills being in demand. So........

Firstly, any suggestions whether it would be worth my while to retrain from scratch in C# and secondly, when (assuming it will be) will C# be in the MCSD certification track?

Craig

I am waiting myself and are playing with the VisualStudio.Net beta (which is quite buggy still:).

To be safe, since MS will not reveal its .Net certifications until February 2002, I would start with the MCDBA first.Once M$ gets their act straight on .Net then take the C# or VB.net tests.

Microsoft wants to run the 2 MCSD certs in parallel which also means that you can not subsitute some old MSCD tests and .Net test to obtain you certification. So wait a month and prepare yourself in C# and pure Object Oriented design since the old tests are not that Object Oriented but are merely framework and Object based (MFC, ADO, DCOM). From what I hear there will be alot more object orientated concepts in .Net.

Good luck..

I forgot one more thing on .Net that is: XML. Please review your XML concepts for the .Net exams as well :)

Hi,
My question is where can I go online to find out inforamtion about the C# MCSD Certification Test? I need to know if there is a formated pre-test with questions that may appear on the final test. If so can you give me the address. I would also like to know the cost and dates when and where this exam will be available.

Thank you very much for your knid consideration and coperation.

There is also the MCSA qualification which is currently out - a 'programmers' equivalent to the MCSD (which is the 'architects' qualification). It's available now and all exams passed count towards the MCSD.

Melissa1 - take a look on Microsoft's site - I think there is a link on the front page - look for anything about certification or testing
