Can you administer FW download to multiple C-LAN circuit packs?

I assume the downloads are done in order one at a time

no you cannot download to multiple clans from one clan. each one must be done individually

What about other circuit packs? Can they be done in multiples?

I just used the "Download from SCP-enabled file server" procedure on ftp://ftp.avaya.com/incoming/Up1cku9/tsoweb/firmware/TNpackFirmwareDownloadInstructions.pdf for my last updates. It was a much easier way to update in our case. I had to set up an SCP server, this software was found on my Integrated Management Administration tools CD.

I just had to download the file once to the SCP server then can set up the firmware download screen to go to this server and get the file. Can have multiple CLANS on the same firmware download schedule (there 4 schedules in 3.1.2). I also used it for CLANs, Medpro and DS1 boards. Much easier than the old method.

Each C-LAN must upgrade it's own firmware.

You can use a CLAN however to upgrade the firmware on multipe boards of other types like MedPro and DS1(TN464GP) boards.

Here is what the change firmware download screen looks like using SCP. You can have upgrade multiple CLANS using this method. Entering "self" in the Source Board Location field tells the target CLANS to use themselves as the source.

The location of a C-LAN

For a download from an SCP-enabled file
server, this is a source C-LAN location.
You may also enter auto, which enables
Communication Manager to use any
available C-LAN circuit pack.
For a self downloadable circuit pack type,
you can enter self, and then add target
locations for multiple self-downloadable
circuit packs of the same type. This allows
simultaneous firmware downloads to
multiple circuit packs.

Remember that a CLAN can only be used as the upgrade source for other boards IF they reside in the same Port Network.

The process takes place over the TDM Bus - hence the limitation.
