I know i have seen this before but cannot locate it now, got a system that every time i would double click the C: drive MS backup would launch but not open the contents of the drive, could right click then click open and it would open up. so i removed windows back-up and thought that would reset to normal( shows me what i get for thinking). Only to find out that now when you double click C: drive the find command launches. finally started thinking and checking and found out that when you right click c: that the find is in bold and not open, how do i reset this back to normal?

The bold type of a right click on a file/folder/drive is the default action for that file type. The default action should be Explore rather than backup or find. This is a file association change. I don't know how it got changed in the first place (unless some software installed changed it), but here's how to fix it.

Open Explorer. Select View>Folder Options. Select the File Types tab. In the file types box scroll down to Drive and highlight it. Click Edit. In the Edit File Type box note the box under Actions. You should see Find and Backup. Whichever was bold on the right click (Find?), highlight it and click the Set Default button (this unsets it). Find will no longer be bold in the actions box. Neither Backup nor Find should be bold and should be toggled off with the Set Default button. OK your way out and when you right click the drive, Explore should be bold. Also double clicking the dive will open it.

Thanks for the help, i went thru the file types and "find" the the only command in the window and it was not bold there. click to set default and then click again to unset it but still would launch find command on double clicking the c: drive. the second method in the article above removing the default value from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DRIVE\SHELL removed the find command and allowed normal access to the c: drive
Thanks for your response
