Bypass ALOM port? 1

Hi,

I have a SUN Netra v240. When I power off the server I would expect the solaris 9 machine to boot up automatically. Instead it boots the Sun(tm) Advanced Lights Out Manager 1.5.3 and waits for my command to power on the box. Is there anyway to disable this ALOM so that I can automatically boot into solaris without manual intervention?

You sure it isn't the OBP? Check your auto-boot setting.

When it boots up it requests a login and password. Once entered it enters the sc> prompt. It's definetly the ALOM. Can you desable it going into this?

I repeat kHz' question: sure it is the ALOM, not the OBP?

whenerver you are in OBP check auto-boot? variable or set it
ok> setenv auto-boot? true

run a
ok> reset
or
ok> reset-all
depending on the OPV version. Does your system boot or require a login/password?

is it possible to post the whole console output? just remove the company name, IPs etc. if you prefere

Thanks for the replies. I have found the solution to my problem. Basically to disable the server entering the sc> prompt on power reset you enter the following:

sc> setsc sc_powerstatememory true

This will automatically boot the server when a power reset occurs and does not require manual intervention to boot the server to the Solaris OS.
