I'm new to Macola, be kind - Can someone point me to the information needed to add a button to a user's screen. (print shop order).

No, the flexibility code he is getting is in the macsql\vbaprj\sfadhchg directory, under the MACOLA user name or group he belongs to. This has nothing to do with windows user.

You should delete every folder in this directory except for the macola folder, then all users will have the identical flex code.

That does not mean they will have the button available in the first place however.

in the macsql\vbaprj\sfadhchg directory I have macola group folders and non-group user folders.... are these the "macola" folders you are refering to? There is no folder named Macola at that location.

Unless every user has different code to run when you press the button, you should never have multiple folders here. All that does is make it a pain in the arse to maintain.

There should typically be 2 folders here, supervisor (this is when you develop the Flex code) and macola. Once the code is in the Macola screen, all users will get it automatically provided that:

a) they have access to that screen in Macola
b) there is not already a folder with their macola sign on name in the directory.

The way this is set up right now, if you change the code, you will have to copy it to X number of places, X being the number of people that need the code. If people leave and are replaced, you have to REMEMBER to copy the code to them.

The same thing applies to the screens. If you create a Modified screen for user MACOLAED, everyone will have it. If you don't do this, you have to maintain a set of screens for every user/group, and as people come and go, you have to REMEMBER to give them the custom screen as well.

I hope this helps.

I am still back to square one. if create a new user, put him in the correct group in Macola and on the domain. He has all the correct buttons. he cannot print. If I log into the domain with a user that has the print functionality and log into Macole the new user, he can print. It still seems to be tied to the domain login. Both users are in the same groups on the domain and Macola. what gives?

The screen with the print button and the print functionality, which is Flexibility code, are not related. You must assign the user both.

Please re-read my last post. This has ZERO to do with windows groups, and you should delete all Macola group references in either the screenset of the vbaprj subfolders.

Assign the modifed screen to MACOLAED and the flex code to folder macola. Delete ALL other users. When you do this everyone will have the same screen and the same flex, provided that they have right to get to this screen in the first place.
