i just encountered this today, not really an expert with norstar. when i did a button inquiry, feat*0 on one of the buttons of a M7324 set it did not say anything it did not even say that it sa blank button to say that there is nothing programmed on it. two of the buttons would do that while the rest would say what feat is there. do anyone of you guys experienced this before? could it be that phone's button is defective but i am able to press it, but nothing happens.

thanks for your reply. Does it mean that the feature on button was just erased that's why i am not getting anything when i do an inquiry on the button? i also did the test on the phone feat 805 and those 2 buttons also did not show what is programmed on them.

Did you try to program something into them to see if it will take a code or speed dial? Thats where I would start. If it did not take, or was still blank, then I would replace the phone.

You should get the word "blank" on any button that has been erased.
Maybe a bad phone.

Try something simple:
press feature*1
press a blank key
enter 9
Check button programming through button inquiry feature*0

To answer your question yes a key can be erased
Press feature*1
press key
press hold

ok i'll try to program another feat on that key. my real problem is that that key that is not working is supposed to be the line 6 and line 12 of the customers. i can see that the receptionist phone has line assignment for these lines and so i'm lost as to why these lines are not working but i am able to get dial tone from the bix connector of the switch. i'm thinking of adding another lines and put the dial tone of line 6 and 12 in another line like line 21 or line 22.

Can anyone direct me to a good reference resource to use for programming buttons, I have several M7310 phones that I need to add another line to, and I want to move the INTERCOM and other keys around.

Thanks.

OK, bad example, what about the other keys, like PAGE, PICKUP, TRANSFER, LAST NUMBER, DIAL etc...

Check the line assignment programming on the reception M7324.
Assign the same lines to the M7310
If the lines are already assigned to the M7310 then remove all lines and press release.
Login again and re-enter the line assignment programming for the M7310

could not program any features on those keys.

i was able to add a new line (line 19) and connected the dial tone from line 6 and i named it as line 6 so that that the receptionist will know that it is from line 6 and i rename the previous line 6 with another name. it was really funny coz i never knew what key line 19 would go. i had to do a button inquiry to find where line 19 went. do you know if there is a way to assign what key a line would go. i know with the feature you can put it in almost any key but with lines and intercom, how do you do it or it is just defaultedto a key.

i would be good to know if you can move around the keys for a line so that i can transfer line 12.

Lines are going to default in a logical order. However if you ever start skipping some lines, or adding them back at a later date, they will get out of order. You can always change line button location with feat*81.
Intercom keys are always going to be lower right side, above the HF, if you have one.

If you still cant program features on those buttons, and they are not a line or intercom, then I would replace the phone. If that does not work, change the port.

thank you guys for all the help. now i know you can move the lines to a different button and so the customer can save on buying a phone just because 2 buttons are not working.
