Hello,

I have a user who's getting a busy tone when recieving a call from an external number (i.e. cell phone, home, etc). also tried to dial the full number from an internal line (my desk phone) and you get a msg to the effect of 'this number is not in service'.

Any thoughts???

thanks!

Are you saying your user is sitting at their desk, their phone rings and they pick it up and all they hear is a busy signal? Which full number did you dial from your phone and was not in service?

At any rate, what system is this, what phone type, and please post a print out of the TNB.

Has the phone worked before now and, if so, when did it stop and what changed between then and now?

ex. 1: user is sitting at her desk (m3903 on option 81c), her mom tries to call her from a cell phone, mom gets a busy signal. however, user can make outgoing calls to external numbers.

ex. 2: user is sitting at her desk, i try to call her from my desk phone (m3904 on same system) using her full number, msg says 'this number is not in service'. however, internal ext dialing works fine, in and out.

to my knowledge, phone has always operated this way. here's the printout:

i would check with telco to see 1. if that number is part of your did and 2. if its not disconnected by telco.

sound like a non did number was assigned to the user since internal works fine.

Try changing key 1 to SCR 7760 d.May not be the issue however I see that the rollover has 5 digits as opposed to 4 digits, unless all your sets are programmed with 5 digit rollovers.
Tahnks

thanks spunkysus, but yes, all our rollovers are programmed for 5 digits.

yyrkroon, this did is definitely part of our count. when you say check w/ telco, do you mean whomever supplies our phone circuits (verizon)?

yes, call Verizon and open a ticket on that number. One other thought, are you steering that number via IDC table??

Here's the latest printout of the set. What exactly is an IDC table?

Did it work before and is now not working? Or is this a new phone?

nope, not in the IDC table. and yes, this was a new phone install.

i will contact VzB and see if they can assist. any other input from you guys would still be helpful. thanks!

I was told (by my vendor) that on my switch when I dial a full DID of another extension on my switch my 61C ignores that I dialed the full number and routes it internally anyway - the same as if I just dialed the 4 digit erxtension.

I bring this up not because I understand how that works (it was like that when I got here and I'm still a n00b) but because that seems odd to me that you can't dial the full number while you can dial just the extension. So that means to me something in your switch is not programmed like mine (and maybe there is a good reason for that) and one of the regular gurus here might have a thought on it.

But all that may be moot because I bet yyrkroon is on it from the start and maybe the phone company just needs to fix something.
