Busy Tone / Voicemail when on call

I have spent several hours trying to configure our IPO 500, so that users dialling an extension which is already on the phone receives either a busy tone, or goes straight to Voicemail.

From reading other posts, I have already set the following:
Only 2 Call Appearance Keys
Reserve Last CA
Now what happens is the Voicemail kicks in after 6 seconds. Can this be reduced to immediately?

I have also tried disabling voicemail and using a short code to put out a busy tone. This worked, but then meant that voicemail never kicked in and therefore messages could not be left.

I have officially run out of ideas!

Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers,
Matt

Haven't tested but how about reducing the no answer time and enabling busy on held as well.

The no answer time is set to the default which is 15 seconds. If you call a user who doesn't answer, it goes to voicemail after 15 seconds, which makes sense.
But, if you call someone who is already on the phone, then it only takes 6 seconds to go through to their voicemail. I can't find anything that sets that 6 seconds!

I have also tried enabling busy on held, and this doesn't change anything in this senario

Do you use embedded voicemail or voicemail pro?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Try this:

Route the incoming call to voicemail pro (a module)
Use a "Route by call status" action.
See if that decreases the voicemail answer time.

I will be totally honst with you, I have no idea how to do that :|

The call will be coming from one internal user to another. It's not actually a call coming in from outside our phone system.

there is always 1 ring to get a call to VM from a user. even when i use my direct to VM short code it rings 1 time and covers to the mailbox. same as your 6 seconds. i dont think you will eliminate that

So is there no way I could bring the 6 seconds down to 1 second? How does your Shortcode work, and would that work for me?

Then do this:

Open the vmpro client.
Go to the user (top left section)
If it is not there then add it.
Then add a leave startpoint.
Add a "route incoming call action"
Then you will see internal and external.
Then add the action i already mentioned.
Try your own extension to test with.
It is not hard to build this but you need to see it once.

So I have added a leave start point which forwards internal calls to a module which I have created. This works, but still takes 6 seconds to come into play.

You should not send it to a module.
You just do it from there.
But i think it will still needs 6 seconds.
I remember that there was something you could do about it.

I have a short code for direct VM trans so when the operator needs to direct a call to VM instead of the user they can. The just simply do transfer #ext and hang up. the code is

#5xxx
VM Collect
"#"5N

The operaters don't need to dial straight to voicemail. They only need to be directed to voicemail if the user they are calling is already on the phone. Currently this is happening, but its taking 6 seconds, which is too long.
Alternativly it would be better if a Busy Tone was emmitted, but I haven't had any luck in getting that to work either!

Bad times :(
