Hello All,

I'm on the USNS Mercy Hospital Ship on our way across the Pacific Ocean on a Humanitarian Mission. I'm new to the PBX world, but have been given the task.

Here is my Problem:

Nortel Meridian 1, X11 Release 25.3x

When I lift up an analog handset I get a continuous busy signal. It appears that cfw is cleared. The user also states that they can call out, but they are unable to receive calls.

Thank you for your time,

David

try unplugging the phone, count to 10 and then plug it back in.

Ace,

I tried unplugging the phone, but I still get the beep beep beep tone.

Thanks for responding to several of my posts. Your assistance is appreciated.

David

To clear CFW, lift handset, dial #1, hang up

Is that how you tried? (this applies to a analog 500/2500 set on;y)

GHTROUT,

I did as you said. Lifted the handset, dialed #1, and hung up, but I still get the beep beep beep.

Then it is probable related to "message waiting", which is the only other typical reason for modified dial tone.

if there is a mailbox related to this extn, call it and just record and delete a message to yourself, or of course, just listen to the legit message :)

GHTROUT,

That may be it. Since I do see a MWA in the phone's CLS. Unfortunately, for me the affected phone's voicemail is password protected and I just found out today that someone has changed the administrator password on our Meridian Mail computer and never told anyone what it was. So, I'm unable to get access to the phone's voicemail to delete the messages. The book says to recover Meridian Mail password to reboot using the "install tape". Unfortunately again, no one seems to know where the install tape is. Just one of those days!

I'm awaiting Nortel to contact me if there is another way to get around the password problem.

I appreciate greatly your assistance.

David

Ya, I am no good at cracking passwords. since I have jumped to the customer side "everything is production" and whenever we get a system from a branch closing it is to valuable for us to smash it to bits in the spirit of learning.

Nortel can crack it easy or at least confirm the easiest way.

GHTROUT,

Your the Man!

For the beep beep beep problem I was having, I did MWD and the beep beep beep went away. I reinstated the MWA and still no beep beep beep.

Thank you so much. Now if I could just get access to me Meridian Mail system. Awaiting Nortel on that one.

Good night.

David

The beep beep beep is called stutter dialtone indicating a Vmail message is waiting.

I'll have to have you say hello to my son if you get to Guam. He's on the Frank Cable.

NastyNed2,

We will be arriving in Guam on May 15th. Only going to be there for 6 hours though.
