Has anyone experienced trouble with hunt groups producing busy tones when no users are available? I have a linear hunt group set up with 10 users and when all lines are taken additional calls are dropped and no busy tones are produced. No voicemail is set up for this group. This is coming into the hunt group as an 800 number over a T1 and happening on an IP412 ver. 3.0.59.

Queuing doesn't necessarily fix this though, does it? After 10 lines are filled up, we want callers to hear a busy signal and not queue the calls.

Anyone else have any ideas on this one? With queuing on and set to 1, the 11th caller gets placed in the queue, but the 12th caller just gets disconnected with no busy signal.

How bout create an overflow to voice mail and play a busy signal as the recorded greeting.

Give the group VM and in VM Pro set up a leave under the group - simply put a generic token after the start playing a message that states all operators are busy please call back, and follow that with a diconnect token.

It was an issue on the provider's side. By default they program the 800 numbers with a 1 minute timeout. They removed it and it has been working fine ever since.

But it is never the vendor's problem - has to be the PBX or the wiring ;)

You need to go to the System tab then the Telephony tab and Tick the local busy tone. Otherwise the T-1 (Ip Office) sends the Lec a signal to play busy tone and Hangs UP. We had a similar problem with PRI's where the extension user was calling a busy number and the PRI would just drop the call and the phone would go Idle. This setting forces the IP Office to use it own resources to give out the busy. I assume you have more then ten channels even though you want to stop at 10 calls.
