I am having the same problem as Curlycord. Mine started when we switched from analog Telco lines to T-1. We get Busy messages and phone calls that are busy as well. I was told to "sync" the Disconect timer with the central office, did that, nothing. On the same note, If I redirect a call to an outside line it gets hung and will not let go! Does this spark any ideas?

TP,
I just had a brain fart and answered Curly's post on this. I would say that the telco isn't sending DS signalling to you or it is not transmitting the signalling from all calling exchanges. ??
The problem I had with this spanned two exchanges. I had to prove to our Telco (who still told the customer it was their Opt 11) that it was faulty signalling from one exchange only.

I think Arr is on the right track. We just had a customer with disconnect issues on an old 824 and a Startalk. Seems the local phone company was not sending the disconnect signalling. They corrected the disconnect trouble and now the problems have disappeared.

I will talk to the telco and see what happens. I thank you both for you advise on this frustrating problem. I will keep you informed as soon as this problem is gone!

also on older 8x24 ksu's some do not have d.s. even if the cards are d.s.

Well, the Telco "fixed" the DS. I'm not getting the phantom voice mails any more!......BUT, I have still one baffling problem! One of the prompts is a transfer to an outside line for after hours. If you call in, select that prompt, let the system dial out, and then hang up, (either party) BOTH lines get hung, Eventually enough calls in, then transferring out, jams the whole system. I do have the option of not even using this feature, but that is what it is there for! Could this still be the DS at the CO?

Truckphone,
This COULD still be telco. Presume you have your lines set for 'supervision'? I'm not experienced on T1 programming, but if these were analog lines I would also check that the disconnect timer was set for 460 or below (the timer should be less than or equal to telco signalling interval).

anyone else on T1 supervision?

OK, I don't have total closure, but I have made huge progress. I finally reached an IT person at SBC. He and I conference called 3 other techs. This is what it boils down to, The Telco did put a "far end disconnect" and "a disconnect supervision" on line lines. It turns out that these signals can't be transmitted be transmitted through the current equipment at the CO! So, 90 min, and a team of techs later, they are changing out equipment at the CO, and we will see if it all works! A heck of a lot of work for something that seems so simple! I like to that you for suggesting it may still be the Telco. Persistence pays off, I hope!
I will update you with a result.

Truckphone,
Glad to hear you are making good progress. Proving a telco problem back to the telco is always a true pain in the neck. Worst of all scenarios.
Keep us posted.
