Ok... i think i have a question that is not possible, but who knows..

I have a employee who has a direct number. But he has to go away from his desk quite often. So what we did is this:
The employee has 2 extensions
1 digital system phone and 1 one analog portable DECT phone
These 2 extensions are in a group
His direct number has the group as destination
So, when someone calls him, both phone's ring. That way he can answer the system phone when he is behind the desk and the portable DECT phone when he is away from his desk.

Ok, so far so good...

The problemm is, he is alone and can only answer 1 call at a time. So when he is on the phone, and a second person calls him, they should get a bussy signal.

Both extensions have all call waiting turned off.

But, when he is on the phone on one extension, ad someone calls, the other extension rings. This is not good. He can not answer this call, beacause he is calling on the other extension. So they should get a bussy signal.

We tried setting the "maximum number of busy extensions" to "1" in the group settings [3-5-1-Miscellaneous]. But when we did this, it only works half.
whe he is on the phone on 1 extension, and there is a incomming call, the other extension does not ring. Thats good, but... the caller does not get a busy signal. He gets a ringing signal. so the caller thinks there is nobody answering the phone.

Is it possible in whatever way, to let 2 extensions ring on a incomming call. But when one of those exentions is busy, give the caller a busy signal??

The incoming line is a normal ISDN line. So it has 2 calling lines standard.

thanks.

ok what system are we talking about?
no how about taking the cordless off hook or dnd when you don't want to be bothered

Sorry... this is a TDA200 system.

And no, putting a phone off hook or DND is not a option.
It is to bussy with calls to do that every time.

The old situation, with the old system was just 2 analog phones connected to the same extension. But that is also not a option now beacause he is using the system directory for quick dialing and even has a extra console for direct access to a lot of numbers.

So we are trying to find a workable solution.

what about digital
xdp to a real cordless

or plug his phone into a dhlc port turn off xdp and set his extension to old style parallel ext ringing

or just get him a long range cordless headset and
phone lifter

why not remove the group and set this desk to forward noanswer to the dect this way the calls will only go to the dect when he dosnt answer at the desk phone.

peter

you can set the no answer timer shorter time to suite.

cwc3 is right, best solution is a DHLC cct with the Cordless ringing in Parallel with the main handset,
But rivets solution will work as well.
