Does anyone now how too reset a Business Policy Switch 2000 back to factory defaults i have this switch lost password i boot using Hyper terminal and i get a password screen but know one here has the password can i reset back to factory defaults ?

thanks

A previous post suggested putting the switch in a stack with another switch as the base and reseting the stack to defaults. I believe that the earlier post referenced 450s but you might try it with the BPS2000 to see if that would work.

Did you try the default password?... it's secure I think.

Try this:

-Power up switch, with terminal connected to console port
-Interrupt POST process BEFORE agent loads (ctrl-C)
pick:
-(i) to initialize config/log flash
then run agent code or reset switch. It will be back to factory defaults.

I just tried this and it worked--I came here looking for a solution, then it just dawned on me. I don't have another switch with the same software, so I can't stack it.

rjenk,

Just woke up.. and I read this post again and I thought..if you put the switch in a stack and set it to base. You can see the old switch passwords...they are in clear text aren't they? hmm will check at work today
