Bursting Reports in ReportNet

I am trying to burst a report on Region and am having no luck.

Users are signing on to CRN using our WinNT namespace. Those users receiving this report have been included in a burst table on the database with the following columns:

username real_name region

In Framework Manager, I have joined burst_table.region to region in the other database tables and am using burst_table.region in the query/report.

I have set up the burst options in the report:

[Checked] Make report available for bursting

Burst Key
Query: Leads Region Query
Level: REG
Lable: REG

Burst Recipient
Query: Leads Region Query
Item: REG
Type: Directory entries

I save and exit the report.

From the Public Folders directory, I choose Run with options...Advanced options...run in HTML and PDF and check the 'Burst the report' checkbox.

The report runs using only the regions in the burst_table, but it does not burst. The report shows all regions, regardless of the signon used.

I'm not going mad quite yet, but it will happen soon! :)

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong are greatly appreciated!

UPDATE

After re-reading (and re-re-reading) the documentation, I believe the Burst Recipient section should read as follows:

Burst Recipient
Query: Leads Region Query
Item: userid
Type: Directory entries

I have changed this setting, but the report output didn't change. It still shows all regions to all users.

I have used the Burst option to send a report of outstanding calls by Assignee for our helpdesk system. I initially had a few problems but looked at the example that comes with ReportNet and got it working.

Basically I made sure that I had the burst group and the userid/e-mail address within the same (main) query. I then selected the entries as you have and this worked straight away.

hope this helps,

regards

Phil.

Thanks, Phil, for the info.

In working with Cognos support, we discovered that bursting does not work with cross-tab reports, and the report I need burst is a cross-tab report. Cognos development confirmed this finding. Bursting works great for me on list reports, however. Now I get to re-design the report as a list.
