Burning CD on Mac for PC

Silly Question ... but I have never had this problem..

I have burnt a CD on a Mac (OS 10.6.8) with a few PDF files. I gave this CD to someone who has a PC and they can not read the CD? (I have even tried a DVD)

Is there a way that I can burn the CD so it is formatted for a PC?

It may be possible that your Mac is not burning discs properly. As, they don't have a filesystem for burning CDs. Data CDs must be readable on cross-platform machines.
