Bulletin Board Dial Zero Not Working

On a Merlin Mail 007-MLM, I'm attempting to set a Bulletin Board Dial Zero option.

A call to the Bulletin Board from an inside extension goes where programming is set to send the call when zero is pressed during the message. Likewise, if I call into the system on an outside line and expressly enter the Bulletin Board extension, things work properly when zero is dialed. But I'm using the Bulletin Board as a destination from an auto-attendand submenu and in this role, the dial zero goes to the Call Answer Service operator.

I found a very similar problem which seemed to be unresolved posted here:

Is this just a bug in the Merlin Mail system? If not, is there any way around this behavior?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply XrayboX.

Although the table you reference shows COS 19 as "No Transfer", it most certainly does transfer the call if I dial the Bulletin Board extension (ie.: STAR 8, then BB ext. no.) so apparently some transfer is allowed, just not when the Bulletin Board is accessed from the submenu.

To further repudiate the document you reference, try setting up a COS 14 mailbox which is also classed as "No Transfer". If a personal operator is set up for that mailbox, transfer to an extension from an outside line or an auto attendant submenu is possible. I just did it.

The foregoing being the case, I'm not really sure what the NO TRANSFER designation means. Can you clarify?

It seems odd that a "No Transfer" class of service mailbox would specifically offer "TRANSFER to an Extension" as a Dial Zero Option. From MERLIN MAIL® Voice Messaging System Release 3, Planning, Installation, and Use Document:

"If transfer to an extension is chosen, the extension that the mailbox owner specifies can be a mailbox of any type (Call Answer, Bulletin Board, Transfer-Only, Automated Attendant) or it can be any MERLIN LEGEND system extension...

The mailbox I am transferring to meets this qualification.

Why would an option be included that cannot be used?

from within Merlin Mail
*7 allows you login to check a voicemail account
*8 allows you to transfer out of VM to an extension (not the extension's voice mail )

"Transfer Restrictions
When transfer is restricted to registered subscribers only, MERLIN MAIL
transfers callers and subscribers only to extensions that have mailboxes
(regular subscriber mailboxes, Transfer-Only mailboxes, Bulletin Board
mailboxes)."

and also page 3-31 (101 in pdf )

"Transfer Restrictions
The System Administrator can limit transfer destinations to registered
subscribers only (extensions with mailboxes). Then, only extensions that have
mailboxes (Call Answer mailboxes, Transfer-Only mailboxes, Bulletin Board
mailboxes) will receive transfers. This is desirable to prevent subscribers and
callers from committing toll fraud by transferring to an outside operator who
could place a call for them. There is also a No Transfer Restrictions option, but
choosing this option is strongly discouraged as it leaves your system vulnerable
to toll fraud.
A
Security Alert:
Choosing the No Transfer Restrictions option leaves your system
vulnerable to to// fraud abuse. AT&T strong/y recommends that you
choose the Restrict Transfers to Registered Subscribers Only option.
You should be aware of the following before performing this procedure:
w The factory setting is to Restrict Transfers to Registered Subscribers only.
w MERLIN MAIL System Planning Form K, Security Settings, provides the
Transfer Restrictions setting.
For more information on Transfer Restrictions, see the Transfer Restrictions
feature in Chapter 5, “Features.”

My test system Doesn't have incoming lines at the moment so I can't test a routed call, But
when I try calling a covered "Bulletin Board ext" (COS 19), the reprogrammed Dial zero option works, I can dial *7, but can't dial *8
when I try calling a covered "no transfer ext" (COS 14) ext, I can dial *7, but can't dial *8
Again I can't currently test an outside call right now.
