What is the procedure for preparing a new tape to be able to run wr/rd test on the 9940B tape drives from its operator panel. I really need a manual with fsc codes if anyone has them. Also other than STK, Who can do repairs on this drive.

You need to preform the "make data tape" function before running the write / read test.
Post any fsc codes and I'll look them up for you.
I've been known to fix some of these units.

Thanks, That took care of that little problem.

I am at microcode level R1.34.408F and I get Media errors on different tapes. The other drive I have is at R1.35.409F and it runs those same tapes with no errors. I assume I need to load my other drives with the latest Microcode. Can I copy it off the new drive and reload the old one. Or where can I get the new level without going to STK.
