Does anyone knows why my built-in LAN connection always display unplugged status though WinXP installed its driver automatically during the installation? Please help!

1. Check Cable (make sure its not a crossover cable)
2. Check device manager.
3. Check that it isn't "disabled"

if nothing works, the port went bad. Get another NIC.

Additional:

It can also be the contact between the cable and the network card is loose. So the fault is either the NIC, the cable, or both.
