In short I need to know how to build DLCI's to establish PVC's In the long, can someone please explain how one may build out pvc's on a 'host' router and make it talk to a 'remote' router.
e.g. configure a 7100 series model interface/subinterface and make it talk ot the interfaces/subinterfaces of say a 2600 series. Say one wanted to 'test' a frame circuit with a Field tech who was physically building and logically building the remote site? What steps would one take to test the remote frame circuit configuration wise to bring up the remote site via the configs on the Host site.
Thanks,
-L

Are you just trying to configure PVCs provided by a carrier, or are you trying to simulate/build a frame-relay network yourself? I'm not clear on what your objective is.

Site 1
1. goto Config mode ( enable->config t)
2. interface serial0/0
3. ip add 192.xx.xx.xx 255.xx.xx.xx
4. encapsulation frame-relay
5. no shut
6. ctrl-z
If LMI is UP then you should see DLCI no. with "sh frame-relay PVC" command.
PVC status should be inactive. If it status=deleted it shows you are not getting LMI Check the Circuit with service Provider.
Repeat the same steps with site 2.
When site 2 is configured you will get the PVC status=active if every thing goes well.
This is the simplest config and it is in NBMA mode.
For subinterface config refer to -bhandari
