I ama beginning my latest project which involes Winsock, my question is how does one test this out? If you launch two copies u can use it like a lan. but you can only launch one from the IDE. Any Ideas? COmpiling and launching is a hassle to.

I'm not sure if this is the preferred method, but possibly install VB on two seperate systems for an interim test. Otherwise, break down your testing into two phases. The first phase strictly tests all outgoing functions. The second phase could then test all incoming functions. Neil Konitzer, President

What OS do you have. I've got 2000 pro and I've made a chat server, and client and have tested them both in IDE mode, using multiple winsocks. I've had as many as 50 socks open at once on my MUD/Telnet project. All running in IDE mode.

I just open the client IDE, then open the Server IDE, two instances of the VB IDE, cause its seperate projects and I have them connect to each other, then I can open as many new clients as I want and have it connect to 127.0.0.1 loopback IP. Works for me. DarkMercenary
