Hey all,

After my most recent desktop took a turn for the worst and myself being unwilling to pour any more resources into its revival, be it money or time, I have decided to start fresh with a whole new unit. I have also decided to go ahead and put the box together myself. I have a good bit of experience with taking computers apart, adding memory, hard drives, power sources, etc.. But there are a few areas that I am a little vague in, such as adding the processor to the motherboard along with just a general idea of everything I need from a basics standpoint. So I was wondering if anyone had any good resources or advice on putting a computer together from scratch? Any help is appreciated, thanks and merry xmas.

Maximum PC magazine recently had an entire issue devoted to building a PC. If it's no longer in the stores, maybe you can get a back issue.

Awesome info, thanks guys. Have a great holiday!

Hi.

You can download my ebook I made a couple of years ago.

It's FREE. It covers most of the basics of building. Certainlly don't use the guide to pick out your hardware, rather use the guide to understand how to build the computer from the ground up. I hope it helps you.
