Hi everyone,

Can someone please explain or point me in the right direction for directions on how to setup a test server for Dreamweaver MX? I have a spare machine on a LAN connected via a router that I would like to use as a website development machine. The more basic the instructions the better. I need to know what software I need to install on the spare machine, how to configure the software, how I need to configure my router, stuff like that. . My website uses VBulletin forum software which is written in Php and uses MySQL for its databases so I really want to be able to work on the website templates and preview as close to the "live" version as possible.

Thanks, and happy FRIDAY..

Chris,

I'm running Windows XP on both ( win xp pro on the target machine, home on my everyday machine ). My webhost uses apache so I'd probably want to use that over IIGS.

I know VBulletin isn't free. I've been a license owner for 2+ years.

If your starting off from scratch. I would download one of two free programs. IBSERVER or PHPDEV both will set up a windows XP machine with Apache, PHP, Mysql ect. PHPDEV is what I would start with in your case.

Also you dont need two machines.

I would give you the links for the software sites but.....
