Ok,

I have recieved the duties of managing our nortel switch. I am new at it and learning the ropes. I need to be able to build a phone but do not know how to enter in the features that i need. If i could duplicate the commands below besides changing the exctensions and names that would be great. I am using procomm plus and i read on the forums you can use a script to build phones?

anyways here is what i am trying to duplicate. any help would be awesome

thanks for any help

instead of building a new phone just do cpy 1 of the exsisting phone and all it is going to ask you for is the new dn for key 00. So first do an prt <enter> ludn to prt a list of the unused dn's and then do a cpy 1 to copy the phone. its going to ask for your from tn and your totn the from in your case would be TN 036 0 02 15 and the totn would be whatever tn your copying it to. Hope this helps.

Decide what DN you want the new phone to have and then do a copy in

right on thx. but then how do i make the changes to the keys?

like this =below? i want to change form this copy:

KEY 00 SCR 8497 0 MARP
CPND
NAME Billy Graham
XPLN 27
DISPLAY_FMT FIRST,LAST

to this:

KEY 00 SCR 8423 0 MARP
CPND
NAME bla bla
XPLN 27
DISPLAY_FMT FIRST,LAST

or to add and remove those extra keys.

thanks for the help it is awesome

i mean to change key 1 key 2 etc and to remove keys from an existing phone

if you want to remove a key:

key 2 nul <enter>

If you want to chg a key, go right over top of it
key 1 is 1 scr 3567

chg it - key 1 scr 8901 <enter>

want the same DID w/ diff name?
go to ld 95 and chg - name cust 0
dn - XXXX

I have 3 TN's that I use to make a cpy from, 1 3903, 1 3904 and 1 500 set usedfor Fax's and modems.

I do an easy change.

Welcome to the forums. I've been in the same situation as you (although I wasn't lucky with having Procomm early on.) I am still learning the ropes here. =)

THe answer to the ECHG prompt is "yes"
it will then prompt you for:
ITEM
and you enter what you want to change - ie:

key 0 scr 6490

which will set your first key to single call ring with extension 6490

next the system will prompt you for
CPND (calling party name display)
if you copied this phone and are setting it up for the new user you will answer:
NEW
it will prompt NAME
and you type in the name: Billy Graham (I thought he retired! ;-) )
and the system will prompt you for XPLN (expected length) and you have to enter a number that is at least as many characters as you will need for the name up to 24 or 25 (I forget).
If you are simply changing an existing set that was not just copied or built new, at he CPND prompt you type "CHG" and then do the same as above.
after, you can enter until you get out or change other items...
