I am new to Linux and just have been very intrigued at the different things that Linux is capable of. I have setup samba and apache. But I didnt know about setting up iptables and vpns as well. Has anyone attempted to setup a vpn with linux. If so how does it differ from other vpn solutions.

My advice would be to use PoPToP (pptp server). Very easy to setup and very easy to use.

Do you have a firewall? You will need to open certain ports.

You can download the software from and open the easy to follow readme file.
