Hi
I'm exploring career options and I'd appreciate
any pointers for getting started in restaurant POS implementation/support. Are there positions
that don't require a CS degree?

I am a beverage manager for a well known restaurant
group and am a basic Squirrel and Aloha user with no programming experience.

Thank you

ps - are there any tutorials or manuals out there?

Find a local POS reseller. Tell them your desires. Your what they should be looking for. They will train you how to program and install the systems they sell.

I don't know industry averages on pay. Maybe mid to upper 40's. Depends on the area and firm.

Good luck!

I started in the POS business with no experience. I do have a college degree and some technical training in networking. I started 5 years ago making 30k.

Lots of the people in the company came from restaurants.

Learn the system inside and out and you will not have a problem getting hired. Many POS companies hire ex management that are familiar with the systems to support them. I have worked for two different pos companies and they both have done it.
