Hello,

It would be great if TEK-TIPS built a working
database with all the tips and suggestions applied.
That way you could visualize how a particular
question, suggestion or tip was implemented.

Even better, an open source database, where you
could collaborate on a particular problem or
solution.

...just an idea.

Hi,

Good idea mate - bit unrealistic - Tek-Tips make their money from you visiting. And so they should.

The 'opensource area' however sounds good. I assume it means a Tek-Tips 'area' where people can drop their example applications etc for people to download and inspect.

This sounds good to me.

Get into the 'Contact Us' link at the top of this page and do it. (You will get a response).

Let me know response at my email below.

Regards,

Darrylle,

Thanks, glad to see that you agree! It would be great if
I could look at "open source database" and say hey; I like
that particular method and then "click on a link" and see
all the possible solutions. Or vice of versa....

Everybody or only the "Top Experts" would be applying all
of there tips and tricks to one database. Which would make
it easier to search, file and categorize solutions, and
more importantly interpret unified code.

...I think it would be a fantastic learning tool!

I did as you asked. I will keep you posted....

Actuall here is a site that does do that

Well here is a website that does just that. It there is a forum that is called "Access Code Archive".

i think too that no matter how many times all of us build/write code/explain in excruciating detail/send examples, someone will still ask how to create a report that only shows the record they've chosen in a combo box......

We at Tek-Tips have the FAQ area you will find loads of solutions to problems there.

I didn't mean to insult anybody by displaying a differ site for help. I was just trying to help. The last two posts give me the impression of some aggression.

no aggression at all. i wish there was a place too where everything i needed was in one place. but there are so many different things to do, so many different needs. there are lots of sample db's out there, lots of code that comes with lots of diff text books, etc. and again, seems as tho some folks will ask the same questions that are answered mulitple times in forums and text books...it's just how some people are. i don't think it's possible to have one big db that holds it all for everybody, cause we all need something slightly different. and even if we did build it, some folks still wouldn't use it cause that's just not their style or whatever ....
