hello,

I have installed the latest jet patch and office XP SP3.
when I am in the file import wizard and want to edit the field descriptions, only the first field can be edited.
when i click on the next fields, I am still modifying the first description.
has anyone else encoutered this problem ?
has the bug been reported to microsoft ?

regards

am i the only one to experience this problem ?

No, You are not alone.

When I was using Microsoft Access 2000, using the Import Spreadsheet Wizard, when you are creating a new table, when you clicked on the white space of the appropriate column, the Field Name changes and the Format whether Text, Number, Date/Time would change.

Our company recently upgraded to Office 2003. When I used the same wizard, what you have described is what is happening. It appears to be a bug.

I had to re-install Access 2000 again and it acts very differently in that respect.

How do you notify Microsoft??

Feeling your pain :(

austinman,

thanks for your feedback.
here is the answer I received on the microsoft newsgroups.
apparentely you'll need to wait for the Service Pack.
in the meantime if you need to rename fields, click on the ADVANCED button. There you can change the field names also.
It's where you save imports specs.

yes, it's a bug that a number of people have hollered about here in the
newsgroups. one post i read says, if i remember correctly, that the problem
is supposed to be fixed when A2003 service pack 1 is released. a fix for
A2002, i don't know about.
in the meantime, you can make all your fieldname, data type and "do not
import" choices by clicking the Advanced tab in the lower left corner of the
import wizard.
