Hello there good people

I am having no end of problems setting up my 3Com wireless modem/router. I have broadband through Ontel and i have had it working through the crappy USB modem they supplied with the package.

I cannot access the internet through the router. When i put the BT test login it works fine, although i cannot access any websites apart from the bt one.

I have conntacted Onetel many times and they confirm the username and password that they gave is correct.

Pleas please can someone help me, i am completely stuck

Thanks everyone

Jamie

This is undoubtedly an issue with what is called authentication. If the test login works then the issue is probably one of the following:

The username and password pair is not correctly authenticating with the Onetel server, you would appear to have looked at this one.

The config of the router is not quite correct, check the setting used with the old USB modem and the dial up networking settings, write down each value heading then check the settings on the 3com router and make sure they match, if the Onetel is using an authentication or encoding system that the 3com router cannot automatically recognise you may need to RTFM and change the 3com settings.
