Hi all
My company is taking over an IP office installed by BT
It has BT Branding on the phones display which I can live with however I am lead to believe a security reset does not really work on these systems, you can only reset the admin password, is this accurate or is there anyway of getting around it?
Many thanks

There's a license called IP Office branding. It may be visible in PLDS and you may be able to rehost it elsewhere to get rid of it.

Security reset Via the Serial port works fine
removing the branding licence does not remove the BT logo, once this has been set it is stuck (like the firmware version)

Perfect, thanks,
I will try a security reset via serial and see how it goes,
I had seen other posts claiming it didn't work for the security user but time will tell
Thanks

There is a way to do it, I have had success with this method before. Though I have only tried on a v8.0 system with PLDS licenses.

[ol 1]
[li] Delete the branding license from the system[/li]
[li] Default the config and security settings(You may need to use a DTE cable to reset security)[/li]
[li] Shut down the system, rebuild the SD Card on a different software version(i.e a higher maintenance release)[/li]
[li] Boot up the system with the rebuilt card[/li]
[li] Plug in phones and make sure they update firmware. Once they have updated the BT branding should be gone.[/li]

My lab unit has been through many firmware upgrades & is still suck with the branding, however I may not have performed all of these steps at once (especially no defaulting cfg & security before upgrading) so I guess I may be mistaken.

Another option may be to configure a custom screen saver image on the handsets - again I have not tried as it has not been considered important enough & I no longer have access to a suitable lab.

The BT Logo isn't a huge deal for me, it's just I have heard from others the password for security doesn't default when you follow the defaulting security settings process
