We had a message from Avaya saying how wonderful it is that BT now are selling and installing IP Offices.....

Aparantly Avaya seem to think their other dealers will be happy that BT are now competing with us....... where is their head at?

It will be good newsd in the end, BT's support is absolutley terrible, I am in contact with one of their PABX support Engineers and in the North East of England there are only 4 Engineers to cover every single PABX they support in the region. They may put them in but come end of initial support contract I guarentee the customer will drop them. :)

Didnt they used to install a BT branded version of the Argent? im sure i ripped one of those out once.

Never argue with an idiot. bystanders won't be able to tell the difference.

Wasn't it called the BT Fusion PBX?

that rings a bell. it used the argent style manager and the same style hardware.

You can use Fusion Exp modules on a <3.2 IPO. And the cards. If I remember rightly, if you look closely, they are still Argent branded on the motherboards!!! Only ever seen one.

Bigest problem with BT selling IPO is the discount levels they can offer.

And then there is the old BT favourite: "if you buy the PBX from us, we will cable the site for free!"

Im just not sure why Avaya has blasted an email out to all their resellers / dealers advising this is wonderful news?

Im sure they wouldnt suddenly do a mail shot advising they a re using ABC dealer and send it to all their other dealers..... just stupid....

I think we are safe with the cabling thing, that was when it was cw1308 cable (voice) and that is much cheaper to run in that the cat5 that people demand now and there isn't a big of a profit margin in the Ip Office that they used to make on the other systems they sold. You could be right about the discount but they are rip off merchants at the best of times so maybe not :)

If you can't beat them join them, as i understand BT has lack of knowledge. That is a oppurtunity for you guys!

Either fight them or join them, from the Avaya perspective : Avaya does not care who sells it, only the number of sold units counts.

They just laid off 15000 in the UK alone, doubt they'll be hiring :)
