Hello,

I passed my BCMSN on Friday and plan to start studying for the BSCI. Does anyone know what areas I should focus on? I plan on taking the following approach (see below). Let me know if I'm missing anything. Thanks!

1. Complete the official Cisco BSCI course (theory + labs)
2. Read the Cisco Press BSCI Cert Guide - Fourth Addition
3. CCNP Cert Community
4. Test King Practice Exams
5. Misc lab work

Rgds,

John

That's about the same approach I took towards the BSCI without the Test King. I mixed things up as I was studying. For instance, as I studied a particular topic, I'd run through some labs. Not necessarily the ones designed by Cisco, but would make up some of my own and run through debug commands just to see some of the steps in action.

Hello Packet7
Sorry for jumping on your post. But can you be kind enough to tell me,where you can find the "official Cisco BSCI course (theory + labs)" that you plan on using?
Thanks in advance

Hi, Packet7

You can go to cisco.com website to find the official book for BSCI course but I suggest you search on Amazon.com to buy an used book for cheaper price.
Good luck

Also, the misc lab work should go at the top, and remain with all the others---any test guide you use should always be coupled with doing the live labs to actually see, for example, how to configure things, mistakes that can be made (like remembering copy run start), and show/debug commands as well.
I would definitely NOT use Testking---there are other more reliable sites, like how2pass.com for practice tests. I myself think it is important to get exposed to how Cisco asks questions, and you may as well do that with a site that provides good explanations to the questions and answers that make sense to the layman.

Hi Burt and everyone-

I'm studying for my CCNA part 2 - ICND.

Right now I'm reading the Wendall Odom book, the Sybex book and I bought a cheap Cisco 2924 Switch for $107. I used it to play around with and practice commands. I also have the Transcenders.

I agree with you on Test King.

Is How2Pass very reputable?

Yes, H2P is very reputable. Just go to the site and read the forums. I would not recommend using only H2P, as some people do. You don't want to become a "paper cert"...
