BS450 random ports locking up

Hi All,

I have about 12 different BS450 stacks with about 4 in the stack with a BPS as a the base unit. The problem is on one specific stack I get random ports locking up. The state of the port remains up but no traffic will pass. The SW is 2.0.5.20 and FW 2.0.5.3. Is there a known problem with this release or does anyone have any ideas as why this would keep happening on random ports at random times. The omly way to get the ports working again is to reset the unit sometimes the stack.

I have had a persistant problem with port 5 in my 450s, on a reboot it may uncheck the VLAN Tagging preferences so it will not pass untagged frames, I just check them back on if it hapens, but it only happens if the unit loses power.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

We have encountered the a similar problem. One of the VLANs on the stack will quit working while the other VLAN(s) operate fine. Visually, there are links on the ports and from DM things appear okay with the exception of no tx/rx packets.

We booted the stack but eventually had a hardware failure which required an RMA.

I am not sure of the random port lock up but the port 5 problem is a documented bug in the ver 3.xxxx code stream. If you have a stack of switches all the port 5's will switch to discard untagged frames and give the impression that the port is broken. Managing the stack with Device Manager actually causes the problem to occur. A software upgrade is the fix. Your SW and HW versions sound like the BPS versions.

What are the 450's running for SW and FW?
