Scenario: NT 4.0 and Win2K pro clients unable to browse the Network. Message says Domain not accessible. An invalid operation was attempted on an active network connection. I'm running a mixed mode Windows 2000 network. I am able to on some machines type in the UNC name and it takes me there. I've been unable to put my finger on this issue even armed with a Technet Subscription. Any direction would be of value.

Are you able to ping IP's or hostnames?

Sounds like either DNS or a WINS problem typing in the proper path it finds it, but cannot resolve by itself. Try putting a lmhosts file on one of the troubled machines and see if it resolves the problem.

Everything is pingable and name resolution appears to be working on the client-side. The specific Event ID's im seeing is 8021 & 8032 (Q135404) shed's some light on the situation. The problem I see is that my first server in the Forest is also my RRAS server. I notice that it has a pair of IP addresses listed a static one 10.x.x.3 and dynamically assigned one 10.x.x.59, which was created during the RRAS installation. The .59 address is also associated as the Domain Master Browser. Is there a way to statically assign Domain Master Browser Role to a specific address ( a static address)? or repoint the Domain Master Browser role to a different Machine? Otherwise I was thinking of running RRAS on a different machine that doesn't host the Domain Master Browser Role. Thanks by the way Shovel ( I'll try the lmhost file ).
