Browsing a Trusted domain over a VPN

We have two sites, Domain1.local in forest1 and Domain2.local in forest 2. (Ip Range d1= 192.168.1.0/24 d2 = 192.168.0.0/24) Both have domain controllers running Win 2003 Standard edition. we have created a vpn link and trusted the forests between the sites and set the domains dns to forward to the other dns. We can ping both domains from each site and get information back when we use net view. When we view through my network place we get an error saying unable retrieve list of servers for the workgroup?. We can create shares and view information through active directory. We have monitored the logs and smb information is going through the vpn when we use net view. We have used net mon and found that the domain is broadcasting to ip192.168.0.255.The broadcast is for domain1 and not domain1.local. We are unable to netview domain1 but can domain1.local.

Please can help me sort out this browsing issue as ive been on this 10 weeks now.

Are you sure this is a problem with your browser? Sounds like a domain setup/trust issue.

yes the trust is working fine. we are currently running software over the trust but the only thing we cannot do is browse the network.
