I have the Direcway 2 way satellite and run XP Home. With the satellite I was told by Direcway to go to IE and then tools then connections and then Lan. I was told to check the box for USE PROXY SERVER FOR LAN and I put in 127.0.0.1 port 83. I do this and then after maybe 15 minutes I might open IE again and check the settings and they are not there. I have looked every where for any info on this and cannot find it.I keep putting it in and it keeps going away.. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I am using the DW4000 2 way satellite modem

Ok I assume you you allready ran LCCU program to configure your DirectWay and then at the end it said that it could not connect to the LCCU proxy. After which Directway software is installed on your pc (under programs)?

Then you opened IE and went to tools, Lan settings. Here you have both auto config boxes unchecked (top 2 boxes). You also have the bottom 2 selected unders the proxy server settings. You then selected the advanced option next to were you enter the proxy server address and port. Once the advanced screen opens you have unslected the "use the same proxy server for all protocols" and set for http 127.0.0.1 port 83.

So you should have only a setting in Http and nothing else. You then click ok/apply and restart the pc. If you have done this then you should be correctly configured. Note that the proxy setting wont show if you go to lan settings unless you select advanced options then it should still show as http 127.0.0.1 port 83. It dosent show on the lan setings page because your not using the same proxy for all protocols.

If you have done this double check it to confirm. If the settings dont show in advanced then it may be time to contact support.

I have done this numerous times and even talked to Direcway. The tech had me go to network settings and he even had me add another ip address to the DNS. so now there are 2 ip addresses in there. I do not know allot about networking but he said this would solve my problem. Well after doing all the things he had me do I rebooted and the settings in advanced were gone again. I can browse but it is slow going. If I go to lan settings and add the 127.0.0.1 and port 83 it goes allot faster. No one seems to be able to tell me how to solve this problem. I thank you for your time. You have been a great help.
